“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
There are very few virtues in this world of incredible importance. And fewer still that real people have. I have discovered empathy is the chief virtue.
From empathy flows compassion, reverence, respect and identity. Empathy delivers strength like love provides happiness. I’ve been resistant to empathy – I thought it useless and characteristic of the weak. I was wrong. It took death and disability to provide perspective. I will never be the same.
