A few quotes that get me through a tough day:

“Well, heaven forgive him! and forgive us all! Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall. Some run from brakes of ice, and answer none: and some condemned for a fault alone.”

– Measure for Measure

“He who has a why to live can bear with any how”

– Neitzsche

“Mens wretchedness in soothe I so deplore. Not even I would plague the sorry creatures more”

– Mephisto, Faust

” Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”

– Benjamin Franklin.

I think for some reason our society is enamored by ‘famous quotes’; we tend to idealize the quotee – when I see any Einstein quotes I facepalm immediately. That being said, they do calm the spirit when in turmoil, and offer sort of an OCD, repetitious respite from momentary anguish.
