Overcoming fear is the ultimate goal of all living men; our lives necessitate from it. It’s why we buy homes and cars, have jobs and friends. Only we’ve forgotten. Instead we pretend we’re no longer running, and that the race has been won.
To overcome fear is to truly enjoy life; an enjoyable life is not fear overcome.
Fear is an abstract particular; a particular, individualized quality which cannot be possessed by more than one person at the same time. As a whole, we are a collection of our fears. No single method works for all, and no single method works for one.
For me, I have only begun to scratch the surface. I don’t envy men with fame and riches; I envy those with courage and virtue. Those men have overcome fear.
